The Mysteria Podcast

Visual artist Tiko Kerr, lecturer, performer, set designer, art director, and activist is based in Vancouver, Canada. He’s been awarded numerous public commissions, written about extensively and has exhibited in respected galleries over the course of his 40-year career. His practice explores perception utilizing chance and improvisation in a multiplicity of materials and methodologies.

Among Kerr’s many commissions are from The Vancouver Board of Trade, the BC Centre for Excellence, The Celebration of Light, Vancouver Opera, VSO, and The Sun Run. His collaborations include painting in performance with Ballet BC and designing the environment for a three-act ballet entitled “Boy Wonder” with Touchstone Theatre, Vancouver New Music and Ballet BC. Kerr also designed theatre sets for “True Mummy” and “Marion Bridge” and has won residencies such as the Brodsky Centre for Innovative Printmaking at Rutgers University, New Jersey, and at the West End Community Center for the City of Vancouver. His most recent project, an installation entitled “if becomes when” is the result of a 2 year collaboration with the notable poet Otoniya J. Okot Bitek which was mounted at The Pendulum Gallery in Vancouver in August/September of 2023. 

Kerr has a long and active commitment to HIV/AIDS advocacy and has recently art directed a documentary for Janssen Pharmaceuticals (Johnson & Johnson).
