The Generalists Podcast

The Generalists are back.

Eight years ago, two best friends from middle school started a podcast. We had no idea what we were doing. We said we'd keep going. We didn't.

Now we're back. And we're starting with the conversation nobody can stop having. Artificial intelligence.

I live in this world. I use AI every single day in my work with creative entrepreneurs. James doesn't, and he's got questions. Real ones. The kind most people are thinking but won't say out loud.

We talked about where AI actually came from, how it works without all the tech talk, and what it's doing to the people who make things for a living. Musicians. Designers. Videographers. People who built their whole identity around creating something with their hands, their voice, their story.

We talked about the jobs already disappearing. The ones meant to replace them. And whether the idea that AI sets humans free is actually true or just a great marketing line from the people selling the software.

We didn't agree on everything. We never do. That's kind of the whole show.

What is The Generalists Podcast?

We’re the Seinfeld of podcasts — about everything and nothing, all at once. Two best friends, Jonathan and James, who’ve known each other for 25 years, sit down to laugh, question, and wander through life’s biggest (and strangest) topics.

From AI to ancient literature, politics to video games, culture to UFOs & Bigfoot — nothing’s off the table. Sometimes deep, sometimes ridiculous, always driven by curiosity and the conversations of two best friends who’ve known each other for 25 years.

It’s unedited, unscripted, and real — the same conversations we’ve been having for decades, now with you invited. Tune in, laugh with us, think with us, and maybe even hear your ideas featured in a future episode.
