Earlier in his walk with Christ, Barry says his relationship with God was inconsistent. Because he wasn’t grounded in Scripture, he sometimes interpreted negative thoughts—You messed up. You’ll never get this right—as discipline or anger from God.
As his relationship with Christ matured, something changed.
He began learning to listen.
Today, Barry describes listening to Christ as being as important to his daily life as breathing.

Pause. Pray. Go to Scripture. Seek confirmation. Ask for strength. Then obey.
As Jesus says in John 10:27:
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”
