त्रयः प्रश्नाः

काशीराज्यस्य राज्ञः मनसि चन्द्रवर्माणं कदाचित् त्रयः प्रश्नाः उत्पन्नाः — उत्तमं कार्यं किम्, उत्तमः पुरुषः कः, उत्तमा वेला च का इति । बहुधा प्रयत्नं कृत्वा अपि तृप्तिकरम् उत्तरं न प्राप्नोत् सः । एकदा सः मृगयार्थम् अरण्यं गतः । विश्रामार्थं सः कञ्चित् आश्रमं प्रविष्टवान् । तत्र संन्यासी तं फलादिदानेन सत्कृतवान् । अचिरात् एकः व्रणितः ग्रामीणः आगतः । संन्यासिना तस्य चिकित्सा कृता । राजा संन्यासिनं प्रश्नानाम् उत्तरं याचितवान् । संन्यासी अवदत् यत् विनालस्यं क्रियमाणं सत्कर्म एव उत्तमं कार्यम्, यः अन्येषां साहाय्यार्थम् उद्युक्तः भवेत् सः उत्तमः पुरुषः, कष्टग्रस्तानां सेवायै व्ययीक्रियते यः समयः सः उत्तमा वेला इति । एतत् उत्तरं श्रुत्वा सन्तुष्टः राजा संन्यासिनं नमस्कृत्य राजधानीं गतवान् ।

Once, three questions arose in the mind of the King of Kashi, Chandravarma — what is the best deed, who is the best person, and what is the best time. One day, he went to the forest for hunting. For rest, he entered an ashram where a sage welcomed him with fruits and other offerings. Soon, a wounded villager arrived, and the sage treated him. The king asked the monk for answers to his questions. The sage replied that the best deed is the one performed without laziness, the best person is the one who is eager to help others and the best time is the one spent in serving those in distress. Hearing this answer, the satisfied king bowed to the sage and returned to his capital.

What is बालमोदिनी?

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
