Dorofeyev opened the scoring midway through the first period with his 17th power-play goal of the season, finishing a tic-tac-toe passing play from Mitch Marner and Mark Stone. Rasmus Andersson followed three minutes later with his first goal at T-Mobile Arena, and Keegan Kolesar tipped in a Jeremy Lauzon point shot less than 30 seconds afterward to give Vegas a 3-0 lead after the opening frame. Dorofeyev added his second power-play goal in the second period to extend the lead to four, bringing his season total to 34 goals. Marner and Stone each recorded two assists, while eight different Golden Knights skaters collected points in the first period.
