Demian & Djack talk with Fabian Lutz, founder of a weight vest brand from Austria. He started in 2019 with a drawing on paper, inspired by his own frustration with the weight vests that already existed.
What followed were years of prototypes, trips to Pakistan, collaboration with a London agency, and eventually a production run that was ready just in time for FIBO 2025.
The conversation is about how a weight vest works as a training tool, why walking speed and bone density are more connected than most people think, and what goes into a seemingly simple piece of sports equipment when you want to do it properly.
What you’ll learn in this episode
➤ Why a weight vest that fits tightly around the body functions fundamentally differently from classic versions that move around while walking
➤ How progressive overload with weight vests increases bone density and why the military has been applying this for years
➤ What zone 2 training has to do with walking with extra weight and how that contributes to marathon prep
➤ How you can use a weight vest for weight loss as a protocol that aligns with the weight someone is already carrying
➤ What it practically takes to build a sports product: from 3D-printed corners to stitching that has to withstand force
This is not a theoretical conversation. This is a conversation with someone who uses, runs, and builds the product themselves.
Our NEW book reveals The 1% Operating System – a practical approach to peak physical and mental health.
