The company doing the raising this time is EnduroSat, a Bulgarian satellite manufacturer — that's the company building the physical spacecraft, not the instruments riding inside it — which Payload reports pulled in that two hundred five million dollars, co-led by Riot Ventures and Atreides Management. The money's earmarked for a new US manufacturing facility and what EnduroSat calls, per Payload, Europe's largest space-and-defense hub. And the company didn't wait around — Payload also reports EnduroSat was picked alongside CACI to build the buses, meaning the base structure and support systems, for Vantor's Pulse constellation: twenty-four imaging satellites designed to revisit the same spot every fifteen minutes. Over at the Pentagon, Breaking Defense reports the Space Force has finally put a name on its ground moving target indicator program — GMTI, meaning satellites that spot moving vehicles and troops from orbit instead of relying on aircraft — and confirmed Northrop Grumman as the prime contractor. As @BreakingDefense put it on X, quote, Space Force's GMTI program gets a name, with Northrop as prime, end quote. The program is called the Resilient Radar System-Ground, and a Space Force general said it's set to launch within the next two years. Separately, at the same conference, the Space Force's commercial space office said it plans to award its first operational contracts for commercial space domain awareness — that's tracking objects and intent in orbit — very soon. SpaceX has firmed up its target for Starship's first attempt at reaching orbit: September 22nd, pending final FAA approval, after slipping from an earlier September 15th target. Both Booster 21 and Ship 41 have finished their full static-fire test campaigns — that's engines firing while bolted to the ground, the last big check before flight. If it goes as planned, Starship will orbit Earth six times and drop off twenty-six Starlink V3 satellites before splashing down; a tower catch of the ship, landing it back at the launch site instead of the ocean, isn't planned for this attempt. Hopefully the new normal will be a growth environment for launch technologies and not another race to the bottom on price, he added. Here's where the story gets more complicated than someone just raising prices. Start with what almost everyone on that Paris stage has in common: they're all launch companies who lose business to SpaceX's low prices, and they all stand to gain if that pricing floor rises. Creech again: the race to the bottom is breaking right now, and it has to change. That's a company whose own economics improve if his prediction comes true. Blue Origin's take leans further out. Jordan Charles, senior vice president of New Glenn, told the panel: if and when our cadence aspirations come true, the players on this stage ten years from now won't be talking about price-per-kilogram — they'll be talking about a whole different orbital logistics model. My read: the underlying economics Creech describes are real — you can't sell rocket rides below what it costs to build, fly, and refurbish the rocket forever, and if SpaceX genuinely is deprioritizing new Falcon 9 bookings in favor of Starship, that pricing benchmark starts to disappear. But every voice making this argument in Paris has a direct financial interest in prices going up, and SpaceX wasn't in the room to answer for its own pricing model. Nobody on that stage cited independent data showing customers are paying more today than a year ago — Creech's own timeline, six months to two years, is his prediction, not a confirmed industry consensus. The Avio and SEOPS stories are real evidence of customers shopping elsewhere, but two data points aren't a market-wide price reset. So who actually pays if this reset is real? Probably satellite operators and government programs who built budgets around Falcon 9-era pricing and now have to renegotiate against a smaller, pricier menu of alternatives — at least until Blue Origin, Arianespace, Firefly, and the rest actually hit the cadence numbers they're promising, none of which exist yet. So the open question hanging over Paris: does SpaceX ever confirm or push back on this subsidized-pricing characterization, or does Starship's cadence just make the whole argument moot before anyone gets an answer.
