Show Notes

Lara talks to Lia Mice, a multidisciplinary artist and producer who joined the ICMP faculty for the 20/21 academic year. Lia went from studying a BA in filmmaking to becoming a performer and now also an instrument designer.
She has designed a number of instruments, including a one-handed violin, her response to music lessons in schools, where the same instrument is taught to the whole class, often excluding children with disabilities. Equality, diversity, and inclusivity matters are very dear to Lia; her way to approach the myriad of aspects that EDI encompasses is to keep focusing on the positives, rather than picking fights. This allows her to stay focused and do something good. Finally, Lia told Lara about her teaching experience at ICMP and what's keeping her busy at the moment, including her monthly radio show, her solo project, and a PhD in Digital Music Instrument Design.
