Know The Scene | Hosted by Justin Dionne

Tune in to a soul-stirring episode of Know The Scene as Justin Dionne, the artistic architect of Cain Center for the Arts, is joined by the legendary Grammy-nominated American Blues Guitarist, Eric Gales. Get ready for a musical journey as they take a deep dive into the blues and memories that shaped Eric's extraordinary career.

In this electric episode, Justin and Eric rewind to the roots of Eric's musical upbringing—a family of guitar virtuosos where even the guitar strings danced to a rhythm only they could play. Growing up with four musically inclined brothers, two of whom played the guitar upside down and left-handed, Eric crafted a unique style that captivated audiences worldwide.

At the age of 16, Eric unleashed his musical prowess with his first record for Elektra records, causing a seismic shift in the music scene. Guitar World Magazine crowned him "Best New Talent" in 1991, setting the stage for an awe-inspiring journey that saw him collaborating with icons like Carlos Santana (who, by the way, happens to be his godfather), Eric Johnson, B.B. King, and Eric Clapton.

The new millennium heralded a fresh chapter for Eric, signing a deal with Nightbird Records affiliated with the Hendrix family. The critically acclaimed record "That's What I Am" in 2001 marked a significant milestone, solidifying Eric's status as a guitar maestro.

Join Justin and Eric as they unravel tales of guitars, godfathers, and the blues, painting a vivid picture of Eric's unstoppable connection with his guitar that continues to mesmerize fans across the globe.
