## Feature Story
Santa Clara is buzzing with Halloween spirit as the city gears up for its annual Halloween Home Decorating Contest. Hosted by the Cultural Commission, this event invites residents to transform their homes into spooky spectacles. With the deadline set for 5 p.m. today, October 26, participants are racing against the clock to submit their entries. The contest is open exclusively to Santa Clara residents and focuses on residential properties. Judging criteria include visibility, interactivity, creativity, and the overall theme of the decorations. Participants are also required to provide a brief explanation of their display, limited to four sentences. This year, eight winners will be crowned. Categories include the Most Innovative Award, Best Group, and six district winners, with one winner from each of the city's six City Council districts. The Cultural Commission members will personally visit the homes to judge the entries, ensuring a fair and thorough evaluation. It's important to note that previous winners are not eligible to win the same award two years in a row, although they can compete in different categories. This rule keeps the competition fresh and encourages new participants to showcase their creativity. The winners will be announced this Friday on the Cultural Commission's Facebook and Instagram pages, adding an element of suspense and excitement to the event. For those interested in participating, entries can be submitted through an online form available on the city's website. This contest has become a beloved tradition in Santa Clara, fostering community spirit and creativity. It's a chance for residents to express their Halloween enthusiasm and for neighbors to enjoy the festive displays. Whether you're a participant or a spectator, the Halloween Home Decorating Contest is a delightful way to celebrate the season. So, if you're in Santa Clara, take a stroll through the neighborhoods and admire the creativity on display. It's a perfect opportunity to enjoy the Halloween spirit and perhaps gather some inspiration for your own decorations. Happy Halloween, and may the spookiest house win!
