What a different world it is. Instead of the streets and churches being full of believers commemorating, singing, praying, walking in parades of celebration, we will find the streets and churches empty this week. It’s not how the world envisioned spending this time. But here we are. But has the light been extinguished? Has hope been burned out? There will be prayers offered by many in their living rooms. Families will sing songs around their pianos or coffee tables. The story will be read from the countless lips of children, mothers, fathers, grandparents and loved ones. The ancient words of the scriptures will not fall on deaf ears. And the homes in each town, community, city, state and country will be as candles keeping the light ablaze. And the light will shine on. It will. That is the promise. That is the boldness of hope.
