Truth In This Art Podcast - Your Source for Conversations with Artists, Innovators & Cultural Leaders

Welcome aboard 'The Truth in This Art,' a podcast that celebrates the power of creativity, hosted by Rob Lee. Today, we have Camille Kashaka, the dedicated Executive Director of Motor House in Baltimore, a thriving nonprofit arts hub, gallery, and performance space. With a background in Theatre Administration from Howard University and a Master in Arts Management from American University, Camille brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. Despite joining Motor House during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic, she skillfully navigated the organization through uncharted territory, implementing a mixed model of virtual and in-person programs to adapt to the economic landscape. Prior to her current position, Camille served as the Interim Managing Director at Hattiloo Theatre in Memphis, TN, overseeing day-to-day operations, and as the Director of the Anacostia Arts Center in Southeast Washington, DC, where she curated impressive visual arts exhibitions, music series, and performing arts events. As a lighting designer, she has contributed her talents to various organizations, including Freshh Inc Theatre Company, Astro Pop Events, and JAMtheRevue. Born to a Trini mother and Black American father in Atlanta, GA, Camille's spicy southern sensibility infuses every aspect of her life, both personal and professional. Her philosophy on life draws inspiration from Jean-Luc Picard's monologues, as she embraces her passion for Star Trek. With her diverse cultural, artistic, and professional background, Camille is committed to enriching Baltimore's eclectic cultural ecosystem and supporting local artists in their creative endeavors.
