Mobility Mavericks

Alex Argudin didn’t set out to build a career in parking. She started working for the City of Miami at 14 years old, answering phones through a summer youth program. Years later, a leap of faith brought her to the Miami Parking Authority. Another opened the door to operations. And eventually, she became CEO.
In this episode of Mobility Mavericks, Alex joins Brooke Krieger for a candid conversation about the career decisions, mentors, relationships, and moments of initiative that shaped her path.
Alex shares why speaking up about what you want can change the trajectory of your career, what she learned by embedding herself alongside frontline employees, and how she built a leadership philosophy around a simple idea: lead people the way you would want to be led.
They also talk about motherhood and ambition, earning respect in a male-dominated industry, building a culture people don’t want to leave, the importance of industry involvement through FPTA and IPMI, and why the next generation of parking and mobility leaders may take the industry places we haven’t imagined yet.
From writing her first parking ticket to leading MPA through COVID and looking toward what comes next, Alex’s story is a reminder that careers aren’t always built according to a plan. Sometimes you have to recognize the opportunity, say what you want, and be ready when the door opens.
