G-D’S SERVANTS Now listen, O Yaakov My servant, and Yisrael whom I have chosen. (Yeshayah 44:1) It is not enough for us to serve G-d with understanding and enjoyment. (See 19 Cheshvan.) We must also serve G-d with a feeling of simple obligation and commitment to do what is right, whether we like it or not. This mode of service, our duty as G-d’s servants, is superior in two ways: It pushes us to achievements beyond our own abilities and understanding, and it pushes us to influence the world beyond our personal sphere and comfort zone. By serving G-d as servants with simple acceptance and dedication, we transform the entire world and bring the complete redemption. Likkutei Sichos, vol. 20, pp. 344-6
