James Dooley Hi, today I’m joined with Chris Walker, the founder of Legit. If anyone wants to search him, it’s Chris M. Walker. Today I want to talk about how to strengthen your knowledge graph score using Legit services. When you get a knowledge panel, you’re assigned a knowledge graph score, which is essentially a confidence score. I want Chris to explain a few different services you can use to improve that score. Chris Walker Thanks for having me. There are a lot of important ones, but first you have to do the basics. Social profiles, filling them out properly, all of that. You can get people to do this for you, but it has to be done. After that, you want to focus on as many high authority wiki sites as possible. I don’t mean cheap marketplaces selling thousands of wiki links. I mean real ones like Wikidata, Wikialpha, Wikilocal and similar. There are probably 10 to 15 of them. Get all of those. They are not that expensive. Don’t try to do them yourself because they usually get shut down very fast. Another one is Wikipedia Simple. It’s similar to Wikipedia but lighter. It’s almost like a workaround. If you can get a real Wikipedia page, that’s great, but it’s very difficult. Press releases work extremely well. There are three on Legit that I recommend. 38 Digital Market, Spine PR, and SEO Booster. They stick for years. I think you know Randy from 38 Digital Market. James Dooley Yeah. Yeah. Chris Walker Those work really well. Then you want as many web 2.0 style properties as possible. Things like Blogspot and WordPress. For example, jamesdooley.wordpress.com. Get as many of those as you can. The goal is to flood the internet with content around your exact brand name. To give an example, I recently bought bestseo.com thinking it would be easy to rank, then I realised James Dooley has absolutely dominated that term. James Dooley Really? Chris Walker Yes. You’ve taken up almost the entire first several pages. That’s exactly what you’re trying to do with the knowledge graph. In that case, I don’t think that was your intention, but the same principles apply. You also want guest posts, but not SEO guest posts. I mean real mentions on agency sites where someone actually writes about you. It’s almost like spamming, but in a positive way. James Dooley I completely agree. Some people call this building a social fortress around your brand. There’s no reason you shouldn’t own every variation of your name on third party platforms. It’s not spamming, it’s repeating who you are and what you do. Things like best SEO speaker connect directly to you because you’re an SEO and you speak at events. The more connections you build in the knowledge graph, the stronger your score becomes. Press releases also help by creating noise, awards, new hires, new products, new offices. You should be doing one every 90 days. Chris Walker Exactly. You can always find an angle. James Dooley This is why I wanted you on. Clients come to me asking for niche edits, press releases, design work, and we don’t provide those services. They need freelancers. I tested Fiverr, SEO Clerks, and then found Legit. What I liked was the quality, the reviews, and the range of services. There are press release providers, tier two link builders, guest post providers. It makes it easy to say you need collaboration and mentions everywhere. Social platforms, web 2.0s, press, guest posts. Why do you think this is so important? Why does a personal brand or business need a strong knowledge panel? Chris Walker It’s a clout score. Speaking as a consumer, if I Google something I’m thinking about investing in and they have a knowledge panel, I take them more seriously. It makes search traffic convert better. For example, a lawyer might want to rank for best personal injury attorney, but people will also search the firm name. That branded search is just as important, if not more important. From an agency perspective, clients love seeing themselves there. It’s easy to sell, but more importantly it’s a conversion factor. It also takes up space that competitors can’t have. This is business. The more space you take up, the better. Knowledge panels are the strongest form of social proof in search. James Dooley A big concept for me is zero moment of truth. That final decision point where someone compares two companies side by side. If your brand doesn’t look good, you lose. Knowledge panels help control that moment. It’s long term branding, trust, and conversion. It can be the difference between winning and losing high value work. Chris Walker It’s the ultimate tiebreaker. Same credentials, same pricing, same service. The person with stronger social proof wins. A knowledge panel can be the difference between a million pound case won or lost. For the cost, it’s worth every penny. And it’s also cool to show off. James Dooley It looks good. It shows exactly who you are and links to all your profiles. Schema removes entity confusion and ensures the credit goes to the right person. Chris Walker That’s especially important with a common name like mine. That’s why I use the M. There were Chris Walkers I could never outrank otherwise. James Dooley I tried changing my name too but reverted back. Now I’m competing with multiple James Dooleys who already have knowledge panels. That’s why strengthening the knowledge graph score is so important for me now. A Wikipedia page is the end goal, but you can’t rush that. It can take years. Chris Walker Absolutely. Go too hard too soon and it gets deleted. Even famous people struggle with Wikipedia. James Dooley Many people don’t even know a knowledge graph score exists. Check the links in the description to see how to check yours. I’ll also link Legit services. Chris, it’s been a pleasure. I’m a big advocate of Legit. For anyone scaling without an in house team, it’s a great option. If someone doesn’t know what services they need, what should they do? Chris Walker They can come to me directly. If I don’t know, I’ll say I don’t know. I won’t sell something unnecessary. You can also contact our support team. We have 24/7 human support. They’re trained and if they’re unsure, they come to me or someone senior. That’s how we’ve differentiated ourselves. James Dooley What’s the best way to contact you? Chris Walker Facebook is best. You can also message me on Legit or go through support. Or just find my knowledge panel. James Dooley It’s been a pleasure, Chris. Thank you. Chris Walker Thank you for having me.
