Compassion is the necessary foundation for all healing. When we can have compassion for all the parts of ourselves that we dislike the most, we can let go of the debilitating shame and self-hatred we have carried for so long, and use out compassion to bring love, understanding, and then if necessary, change.
Desiree McGunagle has been in recovery from my eating disorder since October 2018 (bulimia nervosa). She works in communications supporting survivors of sexual assault at our local rape crisis center. Desiree loves talking to others about recovery and learning from all the unique experiences people have in getting closer to their most authentic selves. In her spare time (whatever that is) she loves reading (currently anything Sarah J. Mass), being cat-obsessed, and taking care of her two horses.
