Show Notes

Salisha is back for the second half of our conversation about off-price. We will discuss the off-price world's role in the #payup movement.  It's infuriating! Salisha will detail her own experiences creating and selling product to these retailers.

The episode begins with a review of the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh in 2013. How did we get there?  Who was to blame? How do we prevent this from happening again? Our info relies pretty heavily on this paper by Ian M. Taplin.

We also have an update on the LA garment industry.   Passing SB 1339: The Garment Worker Act will protect LA garment workers from wage theft and ensure repercussions for retailers and factories that take part in wage theft.  Learn how you can help at the Garment Worker Center.

We are working on a directory of brands/designers/companies/vintage sellers that are doing good things in the world.  This is how we end fast fashion...by supporting businesses that do things right, so they can grow and spread the good work.  Do you want to be included?  Please send us an email at clotheshorsepodcast@gmail.com.  This directory is our primary reason for creating our new website!
