September 13, 2026 - When the seventh seal opens, heaven falls silent. The silence creates space for the prayers of the saints. Their prayers rise with incense before God and are then thrown back toward the earth. What looked like weak, unheard prayer participates in the movement of heaven. The trumpets echo the plagues of Egypt and warn creation’s oppressors. The judgments are partial rather than final. They function as alarms, exposing the destructive consequences of idolatry and calling humanity to repentance. The church may believe prayer is what we do when we cannot do anything meaningful. Revelation presents prayer as one of the most politically consequential acts of the church. Prayer refuses the apparent ultimacy of visible powers and brings the suffering of the world into the presence of the true King.
