Show Notes

Kate Pendry is a British actor and writer who has lived in Norway since 1995. She is a winner of the Ibsenpris 2010 and is considered one of Norway’s most innovative stage practitioners. Her work has often been considered controversial and she has been threatened on a number of occasions because of the content of her art.

Self-censure in the digital age:

Pendry will give a talk outlining the changing contexts of creating live art, and how the digital / social media age has led to artistic self-censorship based almost exclusively on the artist’s fear of attack through viral media.

Pendry’s most recent performance «Johnny and the Shaman» was to have been a dark critique on the Norwegian Royal household’s relationship to new age healing. In light of Ari Behn’s death she has postponed that work indefinitely. She will speak of the thought process that led to this decision.

What is Kragerøpodden?
