Tonight on The Sound we bring you Sugar, the debut album from Minneapolis’ FenixDion. FenixDion is the latest from Keston Wright and drummer Sam Bramble who are joined live by Atom Lee and Mitchell Johnson on guitar, Gavin Taylor on bass and percussionist Nii Mensah.
KQAL’s Tobias Waters got to speak with the guys from FenixDion about their album Sugar, which brings a fresh perspective to the genre of guitar driven rock music while honoring a wide range of influences. Personally, I first heard Fenix Dion live at MWMF in La Crosse, WI in Sept of 2022 and they caught my ear immediately! They reminded me of so much but nothing specific that I could put my finger on, as they effortlessly blended their influences into their own brand of expressive rock. While I stood watching the band with my jaw hanging open, two names did pop into my head… Lenny Kravitz and Jeff Buckley. I’m gonna leave it at that and let you make up your own mind. Here’s KQAL’s Tobias Waters with Fenix Dion to check out their debut album, Sugar, tonight on The Sound.
