KALEO PHOENIX

WARNING: In this sermon, we challenge the idea of penal substitutionary atonement and present a non-violent way to view the crucifixion. In traditional seminary experiences, students are often taught the different ways cultures and denominations view the crucifixion, but that's not something everyone is familiar with. So before you listen to this, just know this may rearrange the furniture in in your head and spiritual belief system. In this episode are guided through Jesus predicting his death in Matthew 16:21-28 and the solidarity Pastor Erin experienced on the Southside of Chicago. "Through the waters of oppression and death, Lord God, you led a people into the burning presence of your love. As you fed them in the desert, now feed us with the finest of wheat, that we may know the liberating power of the paschal feast. Amen."

What is KALEO PHOENIX?

Kaleo Phoenix is a church plant in downtown Phoenix, AZ that creates space for people to practice the ways of Jesus together as the multi-ethnic family of God. In our community, there's an emphasis on women leading, shared leadership, creating a safe space for BIPOC, and Jesus as One who cares for the margins.
