PULSE Zine

In this episode host Fune Arowobusoye sits down with Folakemi Olorade, who is originally Nigerian and grew up in different countries around the world. Folakemi loves creating art with intention and painted her piece "Overwhelmed" for SOCC’s zine during an overwhelming exam season. In this episode, Folakemi talks about how creating art can be a form of healing even when we're feeling overwhelmed, lost, and unable to express ourselves.

What is PULSE Zine?

PULSE is a zine created annually by the Students of Colour Collective (SOCC) at the University of Victoria. The zine aims to celebrate our communities, and provide an outlet for BIPOC to share their experiences, stories and artistry. This year, the PULSE zine includes a podcast component, in collaboration with CFUV 101.9FM, wherein each episode we sit down with a BIPOC artist who is featured in this year's edition of PULSE, to talk about art, the importance of community, and what compels them to create.
