This year, in response to “safer at home” quarantining requirements, we saw birthday parades erupt. Seems like everyone who’s had a birthday since March has had or at least been invited to or involved in some sort of birthday parade. I’m always worried that Christmas will be a drop-in party. People stop by (or drive through), leave a gift, offer some cheer, and then leave only to return next year. Easter can be a bit like that, too. Truth is, God’s great love for you doesn’t come with an invite to His party but adoption as His child. That means you don’t come visit. It means you move in. God’s love advent doesn’t just give you a seat at the table, but the keys to the front door and a room upstairs. Is your response to God’s mercy a permanent residence or an annual affair in your life?
