Conversation Piece with Patrick Armstrong

On this week’s episode of Conversation Piece, Nicha Stapanukul joins the show to talk about navigating the classical music scene as a performer, teacher, and community facilitator. Nicha shares her origins as a pianist, immigrating to the U.S. from Thailand by herself as a teenager, and the shift from performance to education coinciding with a shift from comfort to survival. She also talks about her work as the Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and her recent navigation of her racial identity as an Asian woman in classical music.
