Reading 1 Kings Chapter 18

Yahweh directs Elijah to go talk to Ahab again, to let him know that rain will be coming. Elijah meets Obadiah first, who serves Ahab, but fears Yahweh and has rescued a hundred of Yahweh's prophets from Jezebel's killing spree. Before the rain comes, Elijah tells Ahab to meet him at Mount Carmel with 850 false prophets and all Israel. The 450 prophets of Baal enact gross rituals trying to call down fire from their god while Elijah taunts them. Then Elijah prays a simple prayer and, wham-oo, Yahweh sends fire that even burns up the stones. Elijah tops it all off with running just over half a marathon ahead of Ahab's chariot.
