I'm a licensed insurance agent, and I come on the air right here at KU nv 91.5 every Sunday morning, from 8am to 830 you know, it's a lot of moving parts with insurance. I talk to customers all the time, and you know, sometimes they don't understand. They just think, you know, price, price, price, price. That's all people really think about. 30 years in this business, I realized the one thing to satisfy customers, you have to have a decent price. And I know in the state of Nevada, we all confront our auto insurance prices. I don't know why so expensive, and I can't tell you why. You know, it's just, it's the environment we live in. I'm a licensed insurance agent, and it blows my mind. The quotes that I see people coming in, they said I got quoted on from this company this much money a month. Everything has gone expensive these days, and I do try my best as an insurance professional. I have multiple car insurance companies that I work with to find the quality coverage. For me, it's about coverage. It's about protection. It's to make sure if you're in a car accident, you're well protected. I mean, you don't want to be in a car accident, and quickly find out that you may have to pay for damages yourself. And what is that? So let's say, if you are carrying the minimum state requirement coverages, and you are in a car accident, and you don't have uninsured and underinsured motorists, and you're injured, you don't have any health insurance, the passengers in your vehicle are injured, and the person that hit you don't have enough coverages, or they don't have any coverages at all. And then when you Pete, when people come to me and say, I have full coverage, I don't understand. They understand. They don't understand what they're saying, because you may not have full coverage. And again, we're talking about the uninsured motors protection on your vehicle. And the state of Nevada. Now, in other states, it could mean something a little different, but in the state of Nevada, it protects you and the passengers in your vehicle for medical at whatever your policy rates are, whatever the minimum is, 25,000 per person, 50,000 each occurrence. Now why is this important? There's about 30% of the drivers on the road today in Southern Nevada without car insurance, and it happens all the time. Just just a couple of months ago, I received a phone call. It was a car accident. Young lady was in a collision with a lady that had no car insurance, right? She had no car insurance, and she wanted to file a claim against my client. And she kept calling my client, calling my client, you know, disturbing my and I told her, you know, my client, listen, I'm gonna file a police report on you because you're driving around with no car insurance, creating car accidents. Now, listening to the car accident, it sounded like it was the person's fault that did not have car insurance, so she was trying to and a car that was pretty beat up. I said I saw the pictures, but you know the audacity of people with no car insurance going around town with no car insurance, they get in a car accident, and they want to try to claim against your insurance policy for damages if you are in a car accident and it's not your fault. And I've said this many times on this show, it's not your fault. You get their information. You get the person's ID card, take a picture of it front and back, and if they were willing to give you a picture of their driver's license, that's fine, but most people won't. But get the ID card. You need that ID card, and it makes you what's the current ID card? Just don't get any ID card because, for whatever reason. And you know, I've been guilty of this, but I don't do it anymore. Get rid of your old ID cards in your car. They're worthless once they expire. They are worthless. It's like when you. Go to the refrigerator and you see, oh, this cheese is expired. You know, keep it you throw it away. So why would you keep old ID cards in your car? You know, get rid of your ID cards. What I do? What I suggest you do that my listeners, is listening to this program right now. Take your registration and your ID, your insurance ID. Put it in the envelope. All right, put it on below envelope. I don't know which Potato, potato, you know, I don't know which one is right, but put it in the envelope that way, when, and have it at the top of your glove box, or just convenient and your glove box with all it, eliminate the clutter in your glove box. You know, it should have your information in there in a white envelope. Have it out ready before you know the police officer walks up to you, if you get stopped that way, you have everything ready, and it's in a white envelope. It don't look like nothing but envelope right? Day or night, if you know what I mean, sometimes you know they the police officers. They're tired, they're working, and they miss. They may see something that don't look quite right. And you know, of course, they're going to defend themselves right away. But okay, have it. Have it on a white envelope. Give it to them. Give them the information. Pull it out, the ID card, the registration, along with your driver's license, you and on your window, completely down here is my information. However, if you're in a car accident and there's a conflict whether you own a private parking lot or not, call the officers. Let them know that you're in a car accident and this person is being combative, and you know you need to get their insurance information, and they don't want to give you their insurance information, so call the police officers, let them figure it all out. Now, may takes a while for them to get there, but if you're not at fault, I've been in accidents that were not my fault, right? And the lady told me, she said, Well, I want your insurance information after I received hers and I told why you hit me. I mean, what's the point of me giving your me and your insurance information, you can't file a claim against my policy because you hit me, right? And besides, I'm an insurance agent, and they, when I tell them that, they back off. I said, Here's my business card I'm gonna give you that you hit me. I know how this works. You know, when someone hits you, they are liable. Liability. You you the reason why you purchase insurance for homeowners, auto you know your life insurance, it's, you know it all is about liability for others. It really is. I mean, even, and I put life insurance in there because you are liable for others, whether you're here or not now, with your auto insurance. With your auto insurance, if you hit someone and they're injured, yes, they're coming after you. Yes they are. They're already set up to feel like okay, even if it's a light dent and use and I've heard people say this to me over the years. Well, you know, it was just a small dent. It wasn't that big of an issue. I don't understand why they have to go to physical therapy, go see these doctors, and now they want to, regardless if it's over $1,000 of damage or bodily injury, it really doesn't matter. It really doesn't now, if it's under $1,000 that's different. And don't ever offer or have someone offer you, you know what? Let's not run it through our insurance companies. Let's not file a claim through my insurance company. I'll pay you for damages. You go find out what it costs to get your car repaired, and I'll just pay you. I just don't want to get the insurance involved. Don't ever fall for that trick. Don't ever fall for that trick, because you'll never see that person again. My name is Don Marquez. I know you all looking for a lower rate on your auto insurance. You know, if you have cars, if you have cars, you don't drive. They're just sitting in your garage. They're not a license, but you have insurance on them, donate them just, you know, why are you spending money on a vehicle that's, you know, that has probably a bad motor or transmission is out major parts that this car needs. You know, if it's not registered, you could take off the insurance. You can if it's just sitting in your garage, on the side of your home, or in the backyard, or wherever you have this vehicle stored, because you may have intentions of, you know, repairing it at a later date. You know, to me, take it, turn in the plates. Now, if you have a car that is not running and you have problems with it, turn in your plate. You could take off the insurance. And I know so many of you think, Well, you know, I need to keep the insurance on it, because one day I'm gonna get it repaired. Now, you paying for registration, you know, and you paying for insurance on a vehicle that it's not working. Just turn the plates in, take off the insurance. You could save money that way. Now, I've had clients call me. I don't recommend this, but you know, this is an option. Let's say they're carrying a higher limit of liability on your auto insurance at 100,000 per person, 300,000 each incident, $50,000 or $100,000 property damage. You can lower your coverages down to 50,000 per person, 100,000 each accident, $50,000 property damage, along with the uninsured and under insured motorists at the same levels, at 50,000 per person, 100,000 each accident. And perhaps you could save a little money on your auto insurance policy, just in case, you know something came up where you know, maybe you had an accident, and you know you're paying a little extra for your car insurance, but you do want the protection. You're not carrying the minimum. You're kind of in the middle there at 50,000 per person, 100,000 each accident. I necessarily, as an insurance professional, I don't like to lower those bodily injury rates. We I try to talk you not to do that, but I understand things a little tight right now. You know, everything has gone up, and you're trying to save money wherever you can. This is a way to save money. Again, I don't recommend it, but it is an option. It is an option. I take care of the higher limits of liability, because when you're driving your vehicle, you know people will sue you for liability, damages you cause others, and they'll go after your insurance. Well, 30 years in the business, there's no gimmicks. It is what it is. You know, when I talk about life insurance, the rates are based on you, your medications, your health, your age, what's going on with you? I was so excited last week. This lady had a defibrillator, right? She said, Well, I have a defibrillator, and I. I can't get insurance anywhere. I've heard you talking about, you know, you can help people with underlying health conditions. I was able to get her up to $25,000 worth of life insurance. She was happy. She was like, I can't believe it. That's a whole life policy. That's a whole life policy. Was able to get $25,000 in Whole Life coverage, you know, and she just could not believe I was able to get that coverage for her. And here's another case, I had a lady call me and she said, what I want to know more about the quit smoking Advantage program you talk about at KU NV. And this how it works when I quote you, and you're accepted and an insurance company make you an offer as a smoker. You will not be charged for a smoker's rate. Now you do have to stop smoking within 36 months. Let me say that again, you will let's say you take out a whole life policy. It's up to $50,000 this is how this program works. I have a whole life policy, up to $50,000 in Whole Life coverage, a whole life policy to age 100 bills, cash value, no physical, just a few health question. It takes me about only about 20 or 30 minutes over the phone to write your policy. You are a smoker. You smoke every day, but we have a quit smoking Advantage Program, and you will not be rated as a smoker for the first 36 months. Now, if you continue to smoke, of course, your policy is going to adjust at the end of 36 months, but you have you can smoke for the first 24 months and stop smoking in 12 months. You have to be tobacco free for 12 months and to quit smoking altogether. Your body is going to appreciate you. And I know some of you say, Well, you know, that's the only thing. I don't drink, I don't gamble. This is my only vice. Why did, why do you do you need a vice, right? And people worry about stop smoking or quit smoking, and well, you know that everybody that does it, they gain weight, you know? I mean, okay, you have to balance your diet. But in order to stop smoking completely, your body's really gonna appreciate it. Stop smoking for five days and see how you feel, you know. But cigarettes, as much as they cost today. You know, if you, even if you reduce your smoking in half, you can afford a life insurance policy. Many smokers have come to me over the many years, 30 years in the insurance business for life insurance, home and auto, they say, Well, you know, as a smoker, I know I'm paying more money, and they're absolutely correct, you are going to pay more. But with this new quit smoking advantage, you don't have to be rated as a smoker for the first 36 months. Now, again, you have to have to be tobacco free for 12 consecutive months because you will have a saliva test. So okay, for an example, you can smoke for 24 but you have to that last 12 months you can't smoke anymore. Or when you know, or when I write the policy, that's a good time to say, you know, this is a good reason why I should stop smoking completely, because now I have a company that's not going to rate me as a smoker, but they will give me an opportunity to quit smoking altogether. And that's, that's, that's the best plan I've heard since I've been an insurance agent for the last 30 years. No other company does this. And then you can continue to smoke. Now, your premium is going to adjust. Your your face amount is going to adjust, you know, up to $50,000 in coverage. And why is that important? Because there's things in your policy you may you may not. Quite understand if you lost your beneficiary over the years, you need to change the beneficiary form, or if your policy is adjusting on you every every year, meaning the rate is going up, or the face amount is reduced. Now, if you have insurance through work, and you go and you getting close to retirement, and your insurance does not carry you when you retire, or you or if you are working, and you are paying for your policy. They just don't this is why it's important to get your own independent life insurance policy that the rates of benefits are locked in for the life of the policy to the life of the policy. I offer term insurance, Universal Life, whole life, and iuls. I'm starting to get into the iuls a little bit. That's a policy that will pay you dividends as you age, you put in, and the younger you are with IUL, the better advantage you will have, because it will build up over time, money you can use for supplemental retirement. But you know, if you're looking for a policy and you have underlying health conditions, and you say, you know, I have underlying health conditions, I don't know whether I qualify for a life insurance policy or if you don't have underlying health conditions, and your family member, does? You know, maybe a mother, grandparent, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, whole life benefits are locked in for the life of the policy up to age 100 no health examination, just a few health questions. What? You know, I fill out the application that yes or no answers, most people qualify even with health issues, and this is what I like, mostly, rates and benefits are locked in for the life of the policy. When I offer life insurance to my clients, I don't want to, I'm not going to offer you, I'm not going to offer you a policy where the rates adjust as you age, because that's what I understand. Everyone lives on a tight budget. Everyone lives on a budget today, and things are getting very expensive. So, you know, I ask people, What is your budget for life insurance? And you have to be reasonable. I had a lady the other day, she said, Well, my budget is $30 a month. What can you do? Well, you know what? I was able to get her $10,000 worth of coverage. I said, I don't know what we could do, but let's see. Let's see what we can and she said, that's fine. That'll take care of cremation. Okay, she already had it figured out. But you know, when she told me that, she said, No more than $30 a month, that's what she told me. I said. I said, Oh, okay, so I shopped around, and I was able to find her a whole life policy for her price, for her age, and she was okay with it. And see, sometimes, you know, you need a little bit of coverage, or you may need a lot of coverage. Now, if you have a family member, like a son or daughter that has autism, that you want life insurance on, I can write them. You know policy up to 50. $1,000 up to $50,000 you're not charged for a smoker's rate for the first 36 months, we'll give you 36 months to quit smoking, and we'll okay. We'll give you a saliva test at the end of 36 months to make sure you're tobacco free, you have to be. Tobacco free for 12 months now, when you smoke hookah, and I'm gonna say this because people don't realize you are smoking tobacco, and I've had a gentleman, he only smoked hookah. He said, Well, you know, I go to the Hookah Lounge every once in a while, and you know, I'll have a hookah, and I don't smoke cigarettes, I don't smoke cigars or a pipe I don't smoke. And I said, Okay, well, why you came back a smoker? He said, Oh, I smoke hookah. That's probably why. Well, yeah, that's tobacco. Now, if you smoke cigars, and I do have companies, if you smoke cigars on occasion, we may may not rate you as a non smoker, and that means maybe one cigar a month, you know, a couple cigars a month. But if you're smoking cigars regularly, then you'll be rated as a smoker. But for the first, first 36 months, up to $50,000 in coverage, you will not be rated as a smoker. Now, I do have policies, you know, higher than $50,000 I have policies started at 100,000 $100,000 and up.
