We don’t follow the life and teachings of a great moral teacher. We don’t ascribe supreme value to a first century Rabbi who merely offered insight into righteous living. We serve a sacrificial Savior. He is God’s Son, our Messiah. He is Jesus–the Christ. Denying Him in this life means being denied Heaven in the next. One day, E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E. will account for their life and acknowledge that Jesus Christ alone is it. The question is whether or not we will willingly acknowledge it now in order to spend eternity with Him then. When you do, your only goal is to be like Christ, not so you can earn God’s affection, but so you can rightly respond to His love. The key to that is humility. Willingly admitting you are human and fallible and sinful and in need of God’s forgiveness. It’s only available through Christ and the result of receiving Him is pointing others to Him and becoming more like Him.
