The Wedding Session

To open bar or to cash bar, that is the question. This week we discuss your budget on how to plan for your bar, and hopefully you won't end up with a $20,000 bill for booze at the end of the evening.

Show Notes

Is it better to have an open bar at your wedding or a cash bar? Our clients ask us this question, and it can definitely divide the room. Let us address some of the pros' and con's to each format - open or cash, and even give you a third option to consider.

Here are some things to consider, as you follow along!
Open aka "Host" bar
  • better guest experience
  • faster service
  • guests might overdo it
  • the final bill!! Gah!
Cash bar
  • You know the bill + can budget
  • guests less likely to indulge on their dime
  • payment at bar can lead to slow service
  • are you set up for payment!
And don't forget Option...C? How to include the best of both worlds.

Remember, as long as you quench their thirst, you'll have some happy guests.

Check out our latest blog with some more tips to choose your cash bar or open bar.
