This chapter covers the spreading of the gospel and the growth of the church in the East from around BC 4 (the magi following the star) to AD 1400. The account shows how the simplicity of the gospel brings life to the church, but man-made systems and venerating images corrupt the message, often irreparably. We meet people such as Afrahat, the Persian Sage, Yezdegerd I of Persia, Nestorious of Antioch, and Emperor Wu Tsang.
