दृढा मातृभक्तिः

आशुतोषमुखर्जी कोलकाताविश्वविद्यालयस्य कुलपतिः कोलकातायाः उच्चन्यायालयस्य न्यायाधीशश्च आसीत् । एतम् इङ्गलेण्डं प्रति प्रेषयितुम् ऐच्छत् तत्कालीनः सर्वकारः । किन्तु धार्मिकैः कारणैः मात्रा न अनुमन्यते ।  मातुः आज्ञां शिरसा वहन् आशुतोषमुखर्जी सर्वकारं सूचयति । एतत् ज्ञात्वा कठोरमनस्कः लार्ड् कर्झनः कोपाविष्टः जातः । तस्य आदेशस्य तिरस्कारं कोऽपि कर्तुं न अर्हति स्म । तथापि आशुतोषः अल्पाम् अपि भीतिम् अप्राप्नुवन् गाम्भीर्येण अवदत् 'मातुः आज्ञां तिरस्कर्तुं न अर्हामि । मातृदेवो भव इति बोधयति अस्माकं संस्कृतिः' इति । आशुतोषस्य दृढां मातृभक्तिं दृष्टवतः कर्झनस्य आक्रोशः उपशान्तः । स्वस्य विचारं सः परिवर्तितवान् ।

Ashutosh Mukherjee was the Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University and a judge of the Calcutta High Court. The then government wished to send him to England, but his mother disapproved due to religious reasons. Honoring his mother's wishes, Ashutosh conveyed his decision to the authorities. Upon learning this, the rigid-minded Lord Curzon became enraged, believing that none could defy his orders. However, Ashutosh, without the slightest fear, firmly stated, ‘I cannot disregard my mother's command. Our culture teaches us to revere the mother as divine’. Witnessing Ashutosh's unwavering devotion, Curzon's anger dissipated, and he ultimately changed his stance.

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।

Among these, the children's stories titled “Balamodini” are featured. The series is named “Balamodini” as well. The hallmark of these stories is their short length and simple language. Each story imparts a specific moral lesson. Children’s stories are cherished by everyone, young and old alike. It is believed that listeners will appreciate this effort to make these stories available in Sanskrit. These are the first stories to be podcasted in the Sanskrit language within this field.
