- The Nevada City City Council voted unanimously to make Councilmember Daniela Fernández the next mayor. This will be her second time sitting in the hot seat. Councilmember Gary Petersen was made vice-mayor.
- Earth Fire Alliance, the San Fransisco based global nonprofit founded in 2024 to "confront the escalating wildfire crisis" launched 3 purpose-built satellites into low earth orbit on Tuesday. The satellites are designed to support fire agencies by detecting wildfires early before they spread.
