What if faith is not about convincing yourself that everything will work out?
In Episode Eight of The New Man, we explore the difference between positive thinking and faith. Positive thinking begins with the human mind and asks, “What outcome would I like?” Faith begins with God and asks, “What has He said?” Through Abraham, David and Goliath, Peter walking on water and the healing at the Beautiful Gate, we discover that faith is the response of the human spirit to the Word of God.
Faith is not denial, fantasy or confidence in our own ability to remain optimistic. It can see the giant, the wind and the physical report and also sees something greater. Revelation changes what we see; what we see changes how we speak; and what we believe shapes how we act and continue when circumstances do not change immediately.
The wind does not cancel the word “Come.” Goliath does not cancel covenant. Stop trying to think positively enough. Hear what God has said, become fully persuaded by Him and respond.
