Femme On

Alyson and A.R. (Tony) Farina (from Indie Comics Spotlight and author of the forthcoming YA novel, Welcome to Mansfield) talk about “The Sexy Getting Ready Song” from the pilot of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend created by and starring Rachel Bloom. Tony sings the praises of the episode and the show and how it deconstructs so many tropes through its inventive musical approach. And in this scene it’s deconstructing all the rings women jump through to get ready for a date and how perhaps all the women are really dressing up for each other? ‘Cause really how many guys care that much? And they talk about the ones they love and how they love them no matter what they’re wearing (that sounds a little dirty and that’s OK). And as an added and unexpected bonus Alyson talks about her evolving relationship to musicals. It’s a fun episode and it’s a musical scene, does it get more festive? Have a listen!
