Rabbi Tarhan said: It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you free to desist from it.


Life can feel overwhelming. We might think, “How can I possibly address climate change?” or “I’m just one person - how can I make a difference in a world filled with so much suffering?”

This teaching reminds us that even if we cannot single handedly solve all the world’s problems, we are still obligated to engage in the work of making the world a better place - Tikkun Olam, repairing the world.

Don’t be paralyzed by the enormity of the task. Every act of kindness, every word of comfort, every step towards justice - makes a difference.
