Rediscovering the Lost Art of Friendship

Welcome to Rediscovering the Lost Art of Friendship. Hosted by Jason Wieland, a pastor at Saddleback Church, this 5-episode podcast series is looking to address and respond to the epidemic of loneliness that so many people are feeling the effects of today: we have forgotten the value of friendship and how to build friendships that last. Many of us may find that the relationships we have are more acquaintances than friendships, or that the friendships we have are shallow – easy to fall apart when disagreements or differences emerge.

What does it mean then to rediscover the lost art of friendship? Thankfully, we have a God who not only immensely values relationships, but shows us in the Bible how we can answer this question.

Episode 1 is on Initiate: Follow Jesus’ Approach. How do we see Jesus reach out to people? What does it mean to take the first step; to choose opportunity or potential over fear? Is it better to cast a wide net with friendships, or be more focused and intentional on who you try to initiate friendship with? These are just some of the topics covered in this episode with Stacie Wood, teaching pastor at Saddleback Church.

Rediscovering the Lost Art of Friendship is a limited-series Saddleback Church podcast responding to the current epidemic of loneliness. Each episode features a conversation between host Jason Wieland and a different ministry leader looking at how to build friendships that last.
