Humanitarian Heartbeat Podcast

In this episode of the Humanitarian Heartbeat Podcast, host Nia Imani welcomes Erica Saunders as she shares her inspiring journey, which took a profound turn in 2017 when she was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer. Her battle with the disease, fueled by her unwavering faith and the support of loved ones, ignited a renewed sense of purpose in her life.

In June 2021, Erica became a survivorship specialist for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, where she leads the support group "My Sister's Keeper," designed to empower women of color facing breast cancer. An avid runner and traveler, Erica is also a level one certified run coach and serves as an ambassador for Black Girls Run Delaware, promoting health and wellness in her community.

As a board member for I Can Do 26.2, a summer running program for children, and an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Erica exemplifies a commitment to community service and uplifting others. Above all, she treasures her role as a mother to five children and a grandmother, showcasing her dedication to family.

Join Nia and Erica as they discuss her journey of resilience, advocacy, and the importance of community support, as well as her passion for running and encouraging an active lifestyle. This episode is a powerful testament to strength, grace, and the impact one person can have on the lives of others.
