Jonah 4 reveals that it is possible to obey God outwardly while still resisting His heart inwardly. Jonah was grateful to receive God’s mercy but became angry when that same mercy reached Nineveh. Through Jonah’s anger, discomfort, and concern for a plant, God exposes how easily we can value our comfort more than His mission. This chapter challenges us to surrender our preferences, share God’s compassion, and accept the cost of reaching people who need His grace.
