As the war in Ukraine escalates, women are playing a growing role in the country’s defence—on the front lines, in parliament, and beyond. The most recent data released in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report shows that it will take the US and Canada 61.5 years to close the gender gap. The federal government pitched its $27 billion childcare plan as a way to save families money and make it easier for parents to stay in the workforce while raising kids, something that would benefit mothers, in particular.
