After Office Hours with Puget Sound Economic Forecaster

This week James, Hart and Josh are joined by Dr. Laurie Trautman and Dr. Anneliese Vance Sherman to discuss the initial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic

Show Notes

This week James, Hart and Josh are joined by Dr. Laurie Trautman and Dr. Anneliese Vance Sherman.

Dr. Anneliese Vance Sherman, a consistent contributor to the Forecaster, works with the Washington State Employment Security Department as a Regional Economist.  To say she has her finger on the pulse of our State’s and region’s employment data is an understatement.

Dr. Laurie Trautman directs Western’s Border Policy Research Institute (https://wp.wwu.edu/bpri/).  Her institute is one of two such institutes along the northern border.  The volume of research coming from BPRI is amazing.

We launched this podcast with the thought that a lot happens after we publish the Forecaster.  Did we ever under sell that concept.  We published the latest Forecaster’s Quarterly newsletter last Friday, March 13th, with the unprecedented step of emailing it to all subscribers for immediate use given the quickly evolving economic climate. By Sunday afternoon, we began planning for a revised forecast and this podcast.

Join us today as we cover all manner of COVID-19 impacts, from general impact and duration discussion, border crossing, tourism and travel impacts as well as a look at the latest unemployment data available.
