The sheep-breeding king of Moab rebells against the current king of Israel, Jehoram. King Jehoram creates an alliance with Jehoshaphat king of Judah and the King of Edom, but they end up desperate for water. They go to see Elisha, who tells them to dig some trenches. The same water that brings them refreshment leads to the downfall of Moab. After intense destruction of Moabite land, the king of Moab offers his own son as a burnt offering to his god. The anger of Moab directly following this deters Israel from further battle. Read from the World English Bible.
