You shall not give false testimony against your neighbour. It's courtroom language, and it goes much further than lying. It's about twisting words, leaving out inconvenient details, gossip, slander, rash judgment, saying yes when you mean no, and holding others to a standard you don't keep yourself.
This message from Exodus 20 and Psalm 15 takes the ninth commandment to the heart, and then to Jesus, the faithful and true witness, who was condemned by false testimony so that the truth about us could be exchanged for the truth about him.
