In this episode, we talk to Swarnima Bhargava, a mental health professional who has worked with various clients who identify as asexual and hypersexual. We will talk about their mental health challenges, usually ignored by the mainstream mental health discourse in India and also contemplate possible ways to affirm their experiences in a therapeutic setting.

About the Guest: 
Swarnima Bhargava is currently an Assistant Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. She is an experienced Clinical Psychologist working with child and adolescent mental health. She is skilled in narrative therapy, psychodynamic & mentalization-based therapy, psycho-educational assessments. Her strong interests and experience is working with depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual abuse, ADHD, LGBTQ and relational concerns.

This series is hosted by Saransh Bisht, mental health collective associate at Belongg. They are also a mental health practitioner who works extensively with queer persons on various psycho-social themes. In 2019 they co-founded queer listening circle to enable healing spaces among community spaces.

What is Crossroads in Therapy Podcast?

In this podcast, we will look at therapy through the lens of intersectionality in terms of gender, race, caste, sexuality, disability, religion, and more. Each episode features one or more experts experienced in tackling mental health challenges faced by marginalised identities. Through this podcast, we hope to bring greater attention to how identity both drives unique mental health needs and requires special approaches in therapy.
