On this episode of the Retro Wrestling Re-View WCW Podcast, Gene Jackson and Bob Anderson revisit The Great American Bash ’89: The Glory Days, a pay-per-view remembered for its stars — but often misremembered because of heavy VHS editing.
At the center of the show is an excellent Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk World Heavyweight Title match, a brutal, old-school brawl that stands head and shoulders above much of the card. Flair and Funk deliver raw emotion, violence, and storytelling that still holds up — and feels wildly out of place on a show that otherwise struggles with tone and consistency.
The episode also dives deep into Sting vs. The Great Muta for the TV Title, including the infamous ending that sees the match dissolve into chaos, confusion, and overbooking!
