Sermon: The Courage to Forgive
Scripture: Luke 23:32-34
“Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.”

INTRODUCTION: It takes courageous faith to forgive when your feelings are saying not to forgive.
FORGIVENESS IS A COMMAND...
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you.
And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.
FORGIVENESS IS A CHOICE...
“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”

FORGIVENESS IS SEEN AT THE CROSS...
“Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
-Luke 23:34
CONCLUSION: Forgiveness is not just something you give but also something you receive.
