AI and ChatGPT stories are everywhere. What it can do. What it can replace. How it’s a productivity enhancer, a force-multiplier. 
So why did Elon Musk and dozens of other tech leaders sign an open letter to AI labs to take a breath on development of systems that can compete with human intelligence?
The letter asks if AI might –and I’m quoting here—outnumber, outsmart, obsolete and replace us [unquote].
The letter calls for an immediate 6-month pause on the training of AI systems more powerful than GPT-4. It also says AI with human intelligence poses profound risks to society and humanity. 
The cow might already be out of the barn. ChatGPT is a phenomenon. 100 million active users 2 months after its launch.
