तपश्शक्तिः पण्डितस्य

यवनाः यदा काशीविश्वेश्वरमन्दिरस्य नाशं कृतवन्तः तदा तस्मिन्नेव वर्षे तत्परिसरे क्षामः समुत्पन्नः । 'क्षामस्य कारणं किम् ? ' इति यवनैः पृष्टे तेजःसम्पन्नः महात्मा नारायणभट्टः वदति यत् भगवतः विश्वेस्वरस्य कोपः एव कारणम् अपि च मन्दिरस्य पुनर्निर्माणेन वृष्टिः भवेत् इति । 'स्वप्रभावेण आदौ वृष्टिः अनीयताम् ' इति यदा यवनाः कुप्यन्ति तदा नारायणभट्टः प्रायोपवेशनव्रतं आरब्धवान् सुवृष्टिः च आगता । महत् आश्चर्यम् अनुभवन्तः यवनाः विश्वेश्वरमन्दिरं निर्मितवन्तः ।

When the Mughals destroyed the Kashi Vishwanath temple, a drought occurred in the same year. When the Mughals asked the reason for the drought, the wise and powerful Narayan Bhat explained that it was due to the anger of Lord Vishwanath. He also said that the temple would be rebuilt and with it, rain would come. When the Mughals angrily challenged him, asking if he would bring rain himself, they agreed to rebuild the temple. Narayan Bhat then began a fast, and soon after, heavy rain arrived. Amazed by this, the Mughals rebuilt the Kashi Vishwanath temple.
