Fill ‘er up. Welcome to the Know the Difference Minute for Tuesday, May 24th. Memorial Day weekend is expected to be the busiest driving holiday in 2 years with 39 million on the road—and pain at the pump is going to be about as welcome as an overcooked burger. AAA reports the national average is $4.59—about 50% higher than a year ago. Ten states are already over $5. California’s average is over 6. But we’re still driving—in fact, 5.6% more this year. The big question is: how the final price at the pump will affect spending elsewhere—like restaurants. If Gasoline is bad, it’s way worse with Diesel. US average is $5.71. That affects more than your neighbor with the F250—it spreads to anything that’s shipped. Higher shipping costs equal higher prices which means less to spend on true essentials. The squeeze continues. I’m Dave Spano from Annex Wealth Management. That is your Know the Difference Minute.
