Pastor Luke Simmons continues the series **“God’s Plan for the Church”** with a message from **1 Timothy 3:1–7** on God’s expectations for leaders in the local church.
When we think about church, we often notice the “sizzle”—music, preaching, programs, and style. But God focuses on substance: the character of those entrusted to lead His people. In this sermon, Pastor Luke explains the biblical role of elders/overseers/pastors and walks through the traits God calls church leaders to embody: being above reproach, faithful, sober-minded, self-controlled, hospitable, able to teach, gentle, humble, and well thought of by outsiders.
This passage is not only a standard for church leadership—it is also a picture of mature Christian character that every believer should aspire to grow in by God’s grace.
