जनादरपात्रता कथम्?

कश्चन राजा महाकोपशीलः आसीत् । तस्य मन्त्री सुबुद्धिः तु शासनदक्षः । एकदा राज्ञः मूर्तिप्रतिष्ठायाः विचारो अभवत् किन्तु सुबुद्धिः तं विचारं न अन्वमन्यत । प्रजोपकारकं कार्यं करणीयमिति तस्य मतमासीत् । राजा कुपितः तं मन्त्रिस्थानात् निष्कास्य क्षामग्रस्तं प्रदेशं प्रति प्रेषितवान् । सुबुद्धिना तत्र जनहिताय कासारनिर्माणादिकं कृतम्, येन जनसमृद्धिः जाता। अन्ते राजा जनप्रियस्य सुबुद्धेः कार्यदक्षतायाः प्रशंसा कृत्वा तं पुनः मन्त्रिस्थाने प्रतिष्ठापितवान् ।

The king was angry and removed him from his post and sent him to a famine-stricken region. subuddhi ordered the construction of a fort there for the public, which led to an increase in population. Finally, the king praised the performance of the popular sage and reinstated him in the ministry.
