Jerome Powell has responded to the threat of criminal charges against him relating to the renovation of historic Fed buildings, stating that they are nothing to do with this and rather reflect the fact that he will not bow to political interference when it comes to matters of monetary policy. US futures and the dollar have fallen since he spoke yesterday. This comes after record closes for the Dow Jones and S&P 500 on Friday.
